Three brothers age 92, 94 and 96 live in a house together
In a house shared by three brothers whose ages nearly spanned three centuries, memory had moved out long ago.
One evening, the 96-year-old eldest brother went up to the bathroom and filled the tub. He dipped one foot in, then suddenly froze, frowning in deep thought. After a moment, he hollered down the stairs: “Hey! Was I getting into the bath, or was I just getting out?”
The 94-year-old middle brother called back from the ground floor: “Hang on! I’ll come up and check for you!”
He started climbing the stairs, but after a few steps, he stopped and gripped the banister. He yelled up: “Wait a second… was I going up to help you, or was I just coming back down?”
Meanwhile, the 92-year-old youngest brother sat in the kitchen sipping his coffee. Listening to his brothers, he shook his head in pity. “What a mess,” he muttered. “I sure hope I never get that forgetful.”
To ward off the bad luck, he rapped his knuckles on the wooden table twice: Knock! Knock!
Then, he stood up and shouted at the top of his lungs: “You two stay right there! I’m going to see who’s at the door, then I’ll come up and help both of you!”
