A baby elephant ran out onto the road and threw himself in front of cars, flapping his ears and standing on his hind legs: people were horrified when they found out the reason

On one of the country roads, where the asphalt had already begun to crack with age, a small baby elephant suddenly appeared in the middle of the road.

He came out onto the roadway, stamping his clumsy legs and anxiously waving his trunk, as if trying to say something.

The baby elephant literally threw himself in front of the cars – jumping up and down, flapping his ears, standing on his hind legs, blocking the way, as if he desperately wanted to stop the flow of cars.

The drivers, stunned and frightened, drove around him one after another or braked sharply, but no one dared to approach.

Someone thought that the animal had escaped from the circus, someone – that it was dangerous and it was better not to interfere.

Cars drove past quickly, leaving the baby alone on the deserted road, under the scorching sun. But he did not go away.

He continued to desperately stop cars.

When one of the drivers finally took pity on the baby elephant, stopped and saw why the wild animal was behaving so strangely, he was horrified by what he saw.

Only one driver – an elderly man in an old SUV – decided to stop and get out of the car. He approached carefully, raising his hands so as not to scare the animal.

But the baby elephant was not afraid.

On the contrary, he turned and began to trot towards the forest belt, looking back every time and making sure that the man was following him.

The man, following the baby for about two hundred meters, finally heard muffled groans. Behind the bushes, in a hole covered with leaves, lay a huge elephant.

Her leg was caught in an old metal trap.

The blood on the grass had already dried. The baby elephant ran up to her, rubbing his side with his trunk, as if to say: “I brought help.”

The man had a lump in his throat. He immediately called people from the road, local nature conservation services and veterinarians.

Later, when rescuers arrived and freed the mother, they managed to stabilize her condition. The elephant was saved.
