Dad “Gives Birth” To His Daughter Super Speedily On His Bathroom Floor At Midnight

This is the first time this father have had this experience. He turned midwife when his wife went into labour after being sent home from hospital. They successfully gave birth to a baby girl and he was the same as the second baby’s mother.
Ian Richardson, from Widdrington, Northumberland became a midwife when his wife Laura went into labor after being brought home from the hospital. This proud father cradled his daughter Lucille when he brought her safely into the world after lifting her onto the bathroom floor. He jumped into action when his wife went into L.A.B.O.R and screamed for help. At that time, the dad didn’t hesitate and immediately contacted the ᴇ.ᴍ.ᴇ.ʀ.ɢ.ᴇ.ɴ.ᴄ.ʏ services. They told him exactly what to do.

And first, this father tried to stay calm and cower as his wife pushed the baby away and held him straight in his arms. Ian said “I couldn’t believe it,” “I didn’t want it to happen that way – but it did.” He described how he was “stuck in that situation. “I had to do it. It was amazing and that’s what I was able to tell Lucille as she got older. That’s not all dads are able to deliver my daughter.” Little baby was born after mom Laura started having mild contractions at home.
Ian said “We called the hospital around 1:30 a.m. in the early hours of Monday Bank Holiday and an ambulance took us to the Royal Victoria Hospital,” When our family got there, the doctors checked the baby’s heart rate. They said my wife was only 2cm dilated. He continued: “We were then sent home. We waited for the bus back to Widdington at 9am and by the time we got back I was already tired so I slept for an hour. But I was woken up by Laura screaming from the bathroom that she was giving birth.”

He also said ‘Can you help me?’” The proud dad said he was “still dozing off” and thought he was. “I can’t do that but I called 999 and the guy in the control room said I could do it and talk to me.” The operator reassured the worrying dad and then told him how to sponsor the baby. He said there was “water sprayed on the baby but she said it was okay.” Ian managed to stay “quite calm and Lucille burst into my arms.” He said he “cleaned her and wrapped her in a blanket. I gave her straight to Laura so they could bond.

He added “I thought that was the best thing to do. It’s one of those things that I can tell my daughter when she gets older”. Laura and baby were taken to Northumbria Specialized Emergency Care Hospital in Cramlington for examination. Baby Lucille arrived at 12:26pm and weighed 6lb 8oz. She was born at the 37th week of pregnancy, 3 weeks before the due date. Ian’s family had two sons Anthony, 11, and Jayden, nine, who adore her husband.
His wife, Laura said: “He did a great job, I was amazed at how calm he was. Ian doesn’t usually like ʙ.ʟ.ᴏ.ᴏ.ᴅ, but he’s okay with it all. He just listened to ᴇ.ᴍ.ᴇ.ʀ.ɢ.ᴇ.ɴ.ᴄ.ʏ services on the phone and he did a great job.” When being first brought home, the mom said she felt she knew they didn’t have to wait long. She added “She was his first child so this was not what he expected,” I’m very proud of him, he helped Lucille in a nice and safe way.”

Amanda Hilton, the ambulance control room call manager at the North East Ambulance Service for seven years, said: “I was terrified at first, but when I realized you were in trouble, I was scared. On the way, he followed my instructions and took everything. “He was very emotional when the baby arrived. Mam seemed quite calm during the call.”
