For many people, planning a wedding is usually a mix of joy and stress, but for this bride-to-be, it became a period of deep shock and doubt. A few weeks before her wedding, she stumbled upon a startling secret about her fiancé’s past. Overwhelmed and unsure how to rebuild her trust in him, she turned to us for advice and support to help her through this unexpected crisis.
Here’s her full story
I (24F) met my fiancé Robert (26M) at a music event. We had our love for music and the same bands in common-or so I thought-and it didn’t take long for us to start dating. Things got serious between us quickly, to the point of planning our wedding. He eventually decided to introduce me to his best friends. They were nice to me, but something was off with the way they kept throwing odd glances at Robert. During the night, I caught the name ‘Noah’ being whispered among them.
On our way back, I asked Robert why his friends kept looking at him oddly during introductions and who Noah was. He froze, visibly shaken, before he grabbed his phone and showed me a picture of her. It turns out we look incredibly alike. She had been his first love. They met in high school, but their relationship ended just before Noah moved to a different city for her studies.
We resemble each other a lot, which is likely why he kept staring at me when we first met-I initially thought it was simple attraction, and why his friends kept whispering about her when they saw me. I don’t fault him for having a type, but it hurts to think that he might have started dating me because I look like his ex-girlfirend.
Now I’m confused. Is he genuinely attracted to me, or am I just a stand-in for his ex, whom he might still love? I’m not even sure if he’s over her. I feel lost and can’t fully trust him anymore. What should I do? Our wedding day is already scheduled and is coming up soon. I need your advice in this difficult situation.
