My wife has spent weeks planning her 37th major birthday celebration. The only difficulty is that my best friend’s wedding is scheduled for the same day. I repeatedly encouraged her to postpone, but she answered, “I can’t change my birth date.”
I apologized. My friend will only be married once, whereas you will celebrate a birthday every year. She remained calm and understanding.
I attend the wedding, and in the evening, while I’m there, I receive a text from a private number. I began shivering and couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw the words: “Don’t bother coming home tonight. “Your wife will not be there.”
I start worried and continuously contact my wife, but she does not answer. I leave the wedding party early and head home to investigate what’s going on.
My wife has just returned from a party, and she begins laughing sarcastically. With a smirk, she continues, “I’m glad I wrecked the night for you, just as you ruined mine! “This will teach you to prefer anyone else over your wife in the future.”
The way things turned out surprised me greatly. I assumed she would understand me, but that is definitely not the case. I even came to wonder and regret my decision. Was I wrong in doing what I did?
