Little Johnny’s Pretzels
Little Johnny’s uncle owned a small bakery.
Every morning before school, Johnny would stop by, grab a fresh pretzel, and bring it to his new teacher.
She always smiled and thanked him.
“That’s very thoughtful of you, Johnny.”
After a week, she finally said,
“These pretzels are delicious… but I wonder… do you think your uncle could make one without salt?”
The very next morning, Johnny proudly handed her a pretzel.
Sure enough…
No salt.
The next day?
Still no salt.
The day after that?
The same thing.
After several days, the teacher began to feel guilty.
She imagined Johnny’s poor uncle making a special batch of pretzels every morning just for her.
Finally she said,
“Johnny, I hope I’m not creating extra work for your uncle.”
Johnny looked puzzled.
“What do you mean?”
“The salt-free pretzels. It must take him extra time to make them.”
Johnny grinned.
“Oh, he doesn’t make them without salt.”
“He makes them the normal way.”
“I just l*ck all the salt off before I bring them to you.”
