A 54-year-old accountant decided to leave his wife a dramatic note before sneaking away for the weekend.
It read:
“Dear Wife,
By the time you read this, I’ll be at the Grand Hotel with my beautiful 18-year-old secretary.
Enjoy your weekend!
Love,
Your 54-year-old husband.”
Feeling very pleased with himself, he arrived at the hotel.
But waiting for him at the front desk was a letter from his wife.
He opened it.
“Dear Husband,
I am also 54, and by the time you read this, I’ll be at the Breakwater Hotel with my handsome 18-year-old companion.
And since you’re an accountant, I’m sure you’ll appreciate the math…”
The husband frowned and kept reading.
“18 goes into 54 three times…”
“…but 54 doesn’t go into 18 even once.”
He slowly folded the letter.
For the first time in his life, the accountant realized he’d made a calculation without checking the other person’s numbers.
