William ‘won’t stand for it’ and will ‘strip HRH titles from Sussexes’

Prince William is expected to formally revoke Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s HRH (His/Her Royal Highness) titles once he ascends to the throne, according to insider reports.

This follows a recent controversy involving Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, who was seen using her title on a gift basket card sent to a friend, Jamie Kern Lima.

The card, reportedly from 2023, was signed “With Compliments of HRH The Duchess of Sussex,” sparking renewed debate over the couple’s use of royal styles.

Although Meghan and Harry agreed to stop using their HRH titles publicly after stepping back from royal duties on March 31, 2020—a date widely referred to as “Megxit Day”—they technically retain the titles.

However, they are not meant to be them in any official or commercial capacity. A representative for the couple attempted to minimize the situation, stating that they do not use the titles, while sources close to Meghan claimed she uses her HRH style only in private settings, not for profit.

Despite this understanding with Buckingham Palace, no formal legislation or legal action was taken to strip the titles, meaning they remain in a state of suspension.

Prince Andrew is in a similar position, retaining his title but refraining from its use following his own controversies.

Sources close to Prince William have indicated that he will take definitive action once he becomes King, criticizing King Charles for what they see as a lack of authority in handling the Sussexes.

One insider told the Daily Beast that Harry and Meghan appear intent on causing difficulties for Charles and that William will not allow the use of HRH titles to continue unchecked.

They added that a solution will be found to officially remove the titles when William takes the throne.
