Girl with Dᴏᴡɴ Sʏɴᴅʀᴏᴍᴇ is Mᴏᴄᴋᴇᴅ for eating 1st birthday cake, and her dad can’t ignore it
Every human being is special in their own right, and being different is what makes us unique. Sadly, not many people see beauty in those who do not fit the standards of what societies consider to be ‘normal.’
People born with an extra ᴄʜʀᴏᴍᴏsᴏᴍᴇ are known for radiating joy. Having Dᴏᴡɴ Sʏɴᴅʀᴏᴍᴇ doesn’t prevent them from attending school, finding a job, getting married, and do everything other people do. The truth is, however, that not many people are able to understand this and they still see those with this Sʏɴᴅʀᴏᴍᴇ as someone with a dιѕαвιℓιту.
Even though over the centuries we seem to have gotten far better when it comes to condemning prєjudícє, there’s no doubting it still exists.
That’s perhaps one thing social media has to answer for, the fact that people can now вυℓℓу and hαrαss others online whilst hiding behind the anonymity of a computer. Worse still, in most cases the offending parties get away with it.
Scott, a father from Merseyside, England has hit out at dísgustíng trσlls who ᴍᴏᴄᴋᴇᴅ a video of his little girl eating her birthday cake. The clip shows Megan Gavin, who has Dᴏᴡɴ Sʏɴᴅʀᴏᴍᴇ, messy from eating her cake, but there were commenters who called her a “dσwníє” and a “rєtαrd”.
Needless to say, the proud dad was left appalled, having shared the video celebrate Megan’s first birthday.
Speaking to Metro, he said: “My sh0ck went straight to anger.
Obviously I wanted to go and find these people.
“But after a few hours of sitting down and thinking, I thought I’m not going to let some idiot make me angry and ruin my baby’s day.
“So I’ve turned it into a positive thing and decided from now on I’m going to educate the unєducαtєd ídíσts.
“I’m going to share the love and I’ll do that by sharing pictures of Megan.”
One of the comments on the video read: “Kids in Africa are starving and you’re wasting cake on a child too retarded to know what it is.”
Scott, who has five other children, says he’s often heard tales of such abuse from other parents of kids with dísαвílítíєs.
“We hear it all the time from the mums, it’s heartbreaking,” he continued.
“I don’t understand why people see them differently. I don’t understand it.”
